A number of Sigma Chi Beta alumni choose to pursue careers in teaching, which makes sense when you consider MCLA’s history of being a teacher’s college. Brother Alex Myers, Fall ’15, is among them, but for much of 2020 he found himself teaching 5th-grade English as a Second Language (ESL) courses in Jerusalem. READ MORE

Introducing The Pegasus

The Pegasus is the official alumni magazine of Sigma Chi Beta, an independent local fraternity based in North Adams, Massachussetts, dedicated to loyalty, brotherhood and unity, as well as inclusion, diversity, philanthropy and good citizenship. Since our establishment in 2010, our members have went on to have successful careers at the likes of Williams College, Mercer, General Dynamics, The Berkshire Eagle, and the U.S. Army. READ MORE

Sigma returns to Out of Darkness

On Oct. 10, 2015, the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention held its very first Berkshire County Out of Darkness walks, raising over $21,000. 289 people participated, and among them were the brothers of Sigma Chi Beta.

Two years and a location change later, (the original walk was held at Berkshire Community College), and Sigma returned, bringing six participants to the walk. READ MORE

Sigma Chi Beta’s former president and two-time New Member Educator joined the joined the U.S. army and volunteered as an airborne soldier immediately after graduation because he wanted to experience something “different than most people go through in life.” READ MORE

Brother Matthew Luz, Spring ’15: Setting Youths on the Right Track

Change doesn’t happen overnight. Brother Matthew Luz, Spring ’15, is well aware of that in his roles as a Residential Counselor at the Home for Little Wanderers in Boston, Mass., and a Community Residence Counselor at McLean Hospital’s OCDI Jr. program in Middleboro, Mass. READ MORE

Making the Sigma Chi Beta Alumni Association

In the fall of 2018, Sigma Chi Beta was refreshed once again with a new generation of brothers taking the helm, and its alumni base exceeded 30 members.

Through those 8 years, the organization went through ups and downs, with its overall goal being affiliation with the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts. To achieve this, a few recently graduated members of the fraternity knew that the organization would have to achieve long-term stability, and one of the most effective ways to do that was to organize the fraternity’s alumni.
